Show Summary

Alan Ball, creator of Six Feet Under, has a sexy, scary new drama that delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Since a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many people remain apprehensive about vampires living amongst them in Louisiana.

A local barmaid, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) understands what it’s like to be an outcast. Cursed with the ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she’s also open-minded about the integration of vampires. She is especially intrigued by Bill(Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

Character Profile

Jessica Hamby is a 17 years old vampire “made” by Bill as a part of his punishment for murdering a fellow vampire at the end of the first season. Having been raised in an overly strict family, she relishes the freedom that comes with being a vampire, but her petulant attitude tries Bill’s patience. During season two, Jessica finds a love interest in Hoyt Fortenberry.

First Appearance: “I Don’t Wanna Know”

When I can feel comfortable, I can really work to the best of my ability. Until this show, I didn’t really feel like I’d gotten to do that yet because I was so crippled by my nerves. But here, it’s really been beautiful to be able to get past that, and really work with people that I enjoy working with and who I have confidence are doing just as much work themselves.

For about the first five to ten minutes, you sound like Cindy Brady. Of course, you’re trying to be all immortal and cool and it’s very difficult to sound that way when you have a lisp.

I watched a lot of animal videos and often attack footage. Stalking and attacking and killing are practices lost in most humans, so I needed to teach myself to do them.
